What is ChaosToolkit?

Chaos Toolkit is the leading open-source tool for chaos engineering. Started as a side project by Reliably co-founders, it quickly took off and has been contributed to by teams and individuals working at companies like Daimler, Lego, or Oracle.

ChaosToolkit allows users to declare and store chaos engineering experiments as JSON or YAML files so thay can be collaborated on and orchestrated as any other piece of code.

ChaosToolkit's Open API make it extensible to fit any system. Extensions for AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, Prometheus and many more have already been created and/or contributed to by the ChaosToolkit community.

Introducing ChaosToolkit Support

As well as first-class integration with ChaosToolkit, Reliably users can get custom dedicated support.

Since the first release of ChaosToolkit nearly five years ago, we've seen some recurrent questions asked by more than 1,000 users in over 50k messages in the ChaosToolkit Slack community.

  • What is a good first experiment?
  • How do I contribute to an existing extension to make it fit my needs?
  • How do I create a new extension for some parts of my stack that are not yet supported?

If you're struggling to get your team started with ChaosToolkit, or need assistance with a very specific problem, we're probably the best people to ask!
