Datadog Objectives

Datadog fascilates metric collection and aggregation from numberous integrated sources. This makes it perfect for tracking SLOs and gaining insight into your platform.

  1. The reliably CLI installed and authenticated against Reliably
  2. Access to a Datadog account
  3. Datadog SDK access configured on the host running the reliably CLI tool. See here for more info on authenticating Datadog.

Populate Reliably using Datadog

As Datadog is itself a metric collection platform that offeres SLO tracking functionality, Reliably integrates differently allowing you to import SLOs defined in Datadog directly.

This can be done using:

$ reliably populate datadog --sync

Alternatively, you can also define your own metric based SLOs by passing a metric query to the Reliably CLI and defining your own targets and aggregation. Reliably will use the given query to retrieve metrics from Datadaog and calculate your SLOs based on the targets provided.

To add your own metric query based SLO run the command below and follow the onscreen prompts:

$ reliably populate datadog

Note: As SLOs are either created using user defined queries or imported from Datadog, there are no pre-defined Objectives for the Datadog provider.
